PROJECT TIMELINE
Below is a timeline for a typical kitchen or bathroom remodel. This is a "total gut" job. All finishes and fittings are removed and the rooms are demolished to the wall studs. No walls are moved but there is some exterior work where a window is replaced with one of a different size.		  
Set up, protections and demolition 9 days
  Rough carpentry (framing) 8 days  
  Rough utilities (electric, plumbing and HVAC) 15 days  
  Exterior carpentry, stucco 8 days  
  Insulation and sheetrock (or plastering) 6 days  
  Finish carpentry including cabinets 15 days  
  Tiling 5 days  
  Painting 11 days  
  Finish utilities (electric, plumbing fixtures installed) 4 days  
  Flooring 2 days  
  Clean up 2 days  
  Total: 85 days or 17 work weeks  

Some of this work is done concurrently — this type of kitchen remodel would typically be done in 12 to 14 weeks.
