July 24 , 2007 – Oakland, CA -- Winans Construction, Inc. was named Western Remodeler of the Year and won the award for Best Kitchen Remodel over $100,000, at the 14th annual Chrysalis Awards for Remodeling Excellence Ceremony on June 20, 2007 at the Cobb Galleria Centre in Atlanta, Ga. Since 1994, the Chrysalis Awards program has recognized the nation's best remodeling work in four regional competitions encompassing the entire U.S. Pictures of all 2006 winning projects can be seen at www.chrysalisawards.com. The 2007 Chrysalis Awards brought in a record number of entries - 626 projects from 271 companies. Chrysalis Awards judges included editors and writers of consumer publications such as Better Homes & Gardens, Woman's Day, Southern Living Magazine and The American Institute of Building Design. The projects were judged on design, use of materials, use of space and integration into the existing space. This is the second time Winans Construction has won the Chrysalis Remodeler of the Year award. Criteria for Remodeler of the Year include: The company's relationships with their customers, suppliers, and trades; contributions to professionalism in the remodeling industry; and contributions to the community. "We are grateful to be recognized among our peers," said Paul Winans, founder of Winans Construction, "It's especially satisfying to be awarded not just for the quality of our work, but also for our contributions to the industry and our community." The Best Kitchen Remodel over $100,000 award was presented to Winans Construction for a project in an Edwardian home in San Francisco (picture attached). The meticulous renovation included stunning period detailing such as an encaustic tile floor and a tin ceiling. The kitchen was designed by Rynerson & O'Brien Architecture. Ken Kanline, Director of the Chrysalis Awards said, "Winning awards in multiple categories is difficult to do, and winning the Remodeler of the Year award twice is particularly noteworthy. This achievement speaks to Winans Construction's ongoing commitment to quality, professionalism and community." Winans Construction is a 29-year old firm specializing in major residential remodeling projects in the East Bay and surrounding areas.
