The
Board will help develop magazine programs, such as those at the annual Remodeling
Leadership Conference, and the Remodelers' Show. The nine remodelers were
selected from the more than 1,000 contractors recognized in the Big50 program
since 1986, according to Sal Alfano, Remodeling's editor-in-chief.
The Big 50 is a hall-of-fame type award for remodeling professionals. Every May, Remodeling inducts 50 new members who have set the standard for professionalism and integrity. The name "Big50" is something of a misnomer, since the awards have little to do with company size. The award recognizes excellence and leadership, and companies in this select group set an example for the industry. "I'm delighted to have remodelers of this caliber working with us on a very important initiative: to build the Big50 brand, a recognized award of excellence," said Alfano. " I hope that with the generous participation of these highly credentialed remodelers, we'll build Big50 membership in ways that will help all those selected for this honor to stand out in their markets, and inspire others." The board will help further Remodeling magazine's mission to inform, lead and advance full-service remodeling companies to the highest levels of business expertise and professionalism. A recipient of numerous local and national awards, Winans Construction is a 24-year old firm specializing in residential remodeling in the East Bay. Co-owners Paul and Nina Winans are both National Association of the Remodeling Industry (NARI) Certified Remodelers. Paul has given many seminars to homeowners over the past several years and writes the From the Ground Up column on construction for Hills Publications.
